Intern Experience - Muhammed
Before joining Project Search, I was driven by a deep desire to grow—personally and professionally. I knew I had potential, but I needed the right environment to challenge me, refine my strengths, and prepare me for a meaningful career. That’s why I joined this programme: to invest in myself and gain the real-world experience that would lay the foundation for my future.
During my first rotation in the A&E department at King George Hospital, I quickly learned the importance of precision, discipline, and teamwork. In a high-pressure environment where every detail matters, I took ownership of key responsibilities—from maintaining critical supplies to supporting clinical teams behind the scenes. These tasks may seem small, but I saw them as essential contributions to a larger system that saves lives every day. This rotation taught me the power of consistency, humility, and accountability.
In my second rotation, I pivoted toward the digital and administrative side of the NHS, where I could develop skills more aligned with my long-term goals. I handled NHS systems like CareFlow, supported stock control, organised documents, and assisted with IT-related tasks. This experience unlocked a new level of confidence in me—it confirmed my passion for technology and systems thinking, and showed me how digital infrastructure can power frontline healthcare.
A defining moment in my journey was securing a successful job interview and being offered a role. It validated my growth and reinforced the mindset I’ve developed: if you commit to excellence, opportunities will follow. But this is just the beginning. I’m proud to share that I will soon be starting a Business Apprenticeship Programme that aligns perfectly with my ambitions in IT and administration. My vision is to one day lead projects that drive innovation, efficiency, and accessibility within public services.
None of this would have been possible without the incredible support system around me. I would like to personally thank the Project Search team—Hannah, Sue, and Len—for your constant guidance, encouragement, and belief in me. You each played a key role in helping me unlock my potential, and I am deeply grateful. I also extend my thanks to the hospital staff and my fellow interns for creating a space of learning and mutual support.
Project Search hasn’t just prepared me for the workplace—it’s helped me find my voice, my value, and my vision. I walk away from this programme not just as an intern, but as a future leader ready to make an impact.
