Welcome Message

Welcome to Astrum Multi Academy Trust

Welcome and thank you for visiting our website. Astrum is currently made up of 2 academies, split across 4 school sites. We cater for pupils aged 2-19 and who have a range of severe and complex special educational needs and disabilities.

“We believe that every pupil has the ability to achieve and live a fulfilling life and that we, as educators, have the knowledge and resources to make this happen.”

Astrum Multi Academy Trust is a unique community, formed by forward-thinking leaders who were keen to maintain and expand specialist provision for pupils who were most in need of dedicated SEND resources and teaching & learning expertise.

Since forming the trust in 2017, we have expanded our special school places, developed our specialist services and formed a SEND post-16 provision with an ever increasing need to grow these provisions in line with local demand.

Our vision is to maintain and continue to develop our outstanding education offer to both current and prospective pupils and their families who are living with SEND and disabilities and who deserve the highest degree of empathy, warmth and aspiration to thrive.

We highly value our people as it is our team of committed, passionate professionals who make up our amazing trust and support our students and their families to achieve. We are strongly committed to “growing our own” - I, myself, started working for one of our schools over twenty years ago as a teaching assistant. Our central service team provide support to our school, provisions and services in the areas of finance, HR/Legal, Administration, IT, Estates/Facilities management and Governance to enable our academy leaders and colleagues to focus their time on teaching, learning and working with our students and their families.

The Board of Trustees and Executive Team have aspirations to expand and grow our outstanding approach and support to a wider SEND population and this strategic plan will guide our next steps, whilst always keeping us focused on our vision, core values and keeping our students at the heart of every decision that we make.

Our vision is;

“Empowering everyone, achieving together”

Empowering pupils

Empowering families

Empowering our people

This is underpinned through our values of;

COMPASSION          INCLUSION          AMBITION          COLLABORATION            INNOVATION

We will achieve our vision for the schools, provisions, and services of Astrum by;

  • Being a safe, engaging and transformative environment where pupils and staff can learn and thrive together.
  • Promoting high aspirations that empower our pupils to reach their full potential.
  • Prioritising pupil voice, communication and agency through rich relationships with others and celebrating difference.
  • Being dedicated to developing independence and agency in the children and young people.
  • Being an innovative and inspirational organisation, where new ideas are welcomed, and best practice is shared with all.
  • Promoting strong partnerships with families, professionals across our schools and provisions and the wider SEND community.
  • Being committed to pupils leaving us happy and with a smile on their face.

In line with the trust’s vision and ethos, our academies, Newbridge Academy and Hatchside Academy, our provisions and services, are committed to enhancing the educational landscape for SEND within their communities through our skills, expertise, and resources whilst also collaborating with other provisions to ensure the best outcomes for all children and young people.
